Oct. 9 - Keggs

Objectivity is difficult when you respect a culture as much as I do India. Whether it be standing on a street corner cacophony of noise or in the silence of my veranda, surrounded by examples of wealth & poverty coexisting, I attempt to pause in each moment & experience all it offers - not just the romanticized perspective many personalized observations offer.

There is one area, though, I admit defeat. India has won me over in the way in which she acknowledges what should be accepted as "right" about a topic. The society may not be able to act in unison to make the necessary changes considering its vast size, population, geographic & cultural diversity, but on the whole, in public & private discourse, there is a common understanding of when something is wrong & when something is right. It's a refreshing, humbling change compared to the divisiveness in Washington, DC & wide chasm in media representations of issues.

You even see it in the grocery stores. These eggs are twice as much as regular eggs - like our organic brands in the US - but notice the social justice link...
