Wi-fi, downtown, Sept. 10, 2011

Locating wifi pockets is on the top of my list today...both to upload blogs I've been writing since arriving in Kolkata, upgrading my blog ipad app so loading pictures is less cumbersome...I want to share them here, not on FB...& to upload an offline data base of city-wide, wifi hot spots I neglected to find time to do while still in Delhi. (I've already come to value my US ability to link to www at will, or whim, either from the palm of my hand, house, yard or dozens of locations within a short drive...accessibility = wealth, & with the middle class becoming a Kolkatan reality in the past decade, the market is only now beginning to respond to the demands of 24/7 internet in Kolkata. (Delhi, with its international diplomatic and business profile is about ten years ahead of Kolkata, Nandini explained over tea sandwiches and Darjeeling late last evening, in wifi & nearly every other way...read more on West Bengal & Calcutta/Kolkata info on the Politics page.)

The daily hunting & gathering process for me now includes a 2 liter of bottled water (least expensive so far is 25 inr, or 56 cents usd @ Pantaloon's fourth floor food market), a new 12 block segment from the coordinate grid centered on my guest house location, King Edward's Court, and the ever elusive wifi uplink location! The search will have to be repeated within a few days from my flat location...
