There was rain in the forecast as the Arlanda Express train electronic scroll relayed an unseasonably mild @ 7º C weather in Stockholm early evening last night as I traveled towards my new home at 189 km/hr. The sky is blue this morning, though, with a light breeze & red dogwood & white paper birch in patchwork patterns amongst the dark green fir forest of the archipelago of south Sweden presenting a decidedly Christmas colored theme as I walk towards the Baltic Sea, four minutes away.
My host, Maria, lives in a quaint cottage, on the island of Falrinjso, a skerry, or rocky island, along the Stockholm archipelago. There are three main rooms with white walls & wood floors, a two season extension off the kitchen for cold storage & small cellar below. 12 similar homes are clustered nearby, with slightly larger homes just over the hilltop. Off to the train to meet Maria after work, then to a St. Lucia observation & traditional gathering following the church service.
