The shift from Kolkata to Stockholm has been quite revealing - it's remarkable how much I had internalized the daily life of living in an urban Asian city! Sweden felt very odd at first - so much open space, so few people, exceptionally quiet.
I spent part of the first day walking near the cottage I'm living in, thanks to my wonderful host, Maria Slattorp! (We met after Kaitlin was an exchange student in Sweden. Kaitlin lived with Maria's parents - Malin & Gunnar. I'll be staying with them, too, in January, after the Christmas school holiday break & spending time visiting our relatives, The Landelius family, in central Sweden.)
Maria is a pre-school teacher & lives about 30 km outside of Stockholm in a quaint, self-contained little village of homes.
There is a large, inland lake within five minute walk from her house...and a beautiful expanse of fir forest...makes me feel like I'm in northern Minnesota...
Thanks for being patient as the blogspot issues were resolved - feels good to be catching up on sharing the events of my journey again.
